Install it What it can reach

A one-time cleanup, not a monitor.

It does nothing until you open it and ask. It does not run in the background and does not watch your tabs.

You open the page that lists your own activity, click the extension, and it reads what your session can see. Nothing is selected for you and nothing changes until you have looked at the list and confirmed a count.

Why it overwrites before deleting. A deleted comment can survive in caches, mirrors and third-party archives that copied it first. Overwriting means the copy those archives hold is the placeholder rather than what you wrote. Two of the four platforms allow this. The other two do not, and the extension says so rather than implying otherwise.

What it reaches, per platform.

These differ a lot. The differences matter more than the similarities, so they are stated plainly rather than averaged into a feature list.

Overwrite + delete

Posts and comments, up to about the most recent 1,000 of each. Text is overwritten before deletion.

Limit: Reddit does not serve more than roughly 1,000 items per listing, so older content cannot be reached from a browser.

Delete only

X (Twitter)

Posts and replies loaded on your profile. The extension scrolls and collects what appears.

Limit: X has no edit function for a normal account, so text cannot be overwritten first. A delete is just a delete, and earlier archive copies stay as they were.

Overwrite + delete

Posts and comments from your own activity page. Both can be overwritten before deletion.

Limit: the activity page stops paging after a few hundred items. The extension also works deliberately slowly here, because LinkedIn restricts accounts that behave mechanically.

Instagram

Comments listed under Your activity, as far as that page will load. This is much narrower than the other three.

Limits: your posts, reels, stories and DMs are not covered. Instagram has no comment edit for anyone, so nothing can be overwritten first. Not a full history — treat it as a pass over what Instagram is willing to show.

Installing it.

Not on the Chrome Web Store yet, so it installs from the folder. Chrome and Edge use the same steps.

1 Download the repository and find the extension folder

2 Open chrome://extensions — or edge://extensions

3 Turn on Developer mode, top right

4 Click Load unpacked and choose the extension folder

5 Pin the icon to your toolbar Edge in particular hides new extensions behind the puzzle-piece menu. An extension you cannot find is one that does not get used.

6 A welcome page opens and tells you where to go next It reads whichever tab you have open and gives you the one next step for that site.

Safari Safari needs the extension wrapped in a signed app bundle rather than loaded from a folder. The conversion is documented in the repository under extension/docs/BROWSERS.md. It has not been built and shipped yet.

Desktop browser required Chrome on Android does not support extensions at all, and the cleanup itself is reading-and-judgement work that belongs at a keyboard. There is no mobile version, and that is a deliberate decision rather than a gap waiting to be filled.

What leaves your browser.

Nothing, unless you tick the box. If you do link it to your Good Presence account, it records counts and which filters you used: how many items were scanned, matched, overwritten and deleted. It does not send the text of your posts, and it reports your keywords as a number rather than as the words themselves, because the terms someone searches their own history for are sensitive in their own right.

No password is ever requested. Everything runs as the session you are already logged into, in the site’s own tab.
